Give Your Honor Away!
Have you ever thought about how powerful it is to honor others? I’m talking about giving honor in a way that people will always remember. Let me share a couple of examples.
I’ve always enjoyed having guest speakers and visitors come to present to my team. We would always remind each other about our opportunity to make a big impression during the speaker introduction. When I’d introduce the speaker, we agreed to give them the biggest welcome they have ever received! I’m talking about big time clapping and hoorays for coming to spend time with us. There was no greater feeling than to hear that visitor say, “WOW! I’ve never been introduced and welcomed quite like that before. I can see why you guys are the best team in the country!”
Here’s another example where this concept made a recent impression on me. I recently had a first time meeting with Lori Ruff, who heard about me and SalesBlogcast.com through a mutual connection. Last week, she made a visit to Dallas and scheduled a time to meet with me. When I arrived at the restaurant, she jumped out of the booth and ran to the door to greet me with a big smile and a hand shake. I’d never had anyone greet me that way before. It’s a greeting I will never forget!
Giving honor is about recognizing the opportunity to make others feel like they are the most important person of the moment. It’s about looking them in the eye and recognizing, with all your heart, that they are important… that they are making a big impact on your life and the lives of others. Everyday… choose your opportunities wisely, be genuine, and give your honor away!
