Don't Be Afraid to try Something New!

I guess it is because I have been on this earth for over 60 years that I am finding myself getting into a bad habit. That habit is falling back on the old and familiar and not always being willing to try new stuff.

Case in point. I asked my younger brother the other day about getting some Merthiolate antiseptic liquid to put on a cut I had on my finger as the bottle I had had for many years was running low. Since he works in the pharmacy department of Kaiser Insurance I knew he would have an answer.

He told me Merthialate is no longer made as it contains Thimerosal which contains mercury and has been banned by the FDA or EPA or some government agency. Anyway, he suggested I try a product called New Skin which he called a liquid bandage and antiseptic. I bought a bottle and was very pleasantly surprised. The stuff is great!!! Try it if you haven’t already. My brother went on to say they found Mertiolate actually slowed down the healing process as the antiseptic in it killed some healthy cells which then needed to grow back before the cut or injury could heal.

Moral of the story—don’t be afraid to try something new! You may be very pleasantly surprised.
