Is Microsoft Tone Deaf in Trying Times?

Is Microsoft Tone Deaf in Trying Times?

It’s no secret: the economy is struggling. Inflation is squeezing businesses from every angle, operating costs are skyrocketing, and more and more businesses are barely staying afloat. Many are even failing. At a time when businesses are hunkering down and making careful financial decisions, Microsoft chooses now to announce the end of support for Dynamics GP—leaving its longtime customers in the lurch.

Instead of providing continuity and reassurance, Microsoft is introducing uncertainty and chaos at the worst possible time.

For decades, Dynamics GP has been the backbone of countless businesses. It’s a system that works, has been finely tuned to meet unique business needs, and has become irreplaceable. But instead of recognizing this and providing stability, Microsoft is pushing businesses into chaos by telling them they need to spend money they don’t have to implement Business Central – a system that does less. It’s as if they are saying, “Forget the fact that you’re being drowned by inflation and uncertainty, just spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get something worse.”

It’s as if they are saying, ‘Forget the fact that you’re being drowned by inflation and uncertainty, just spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get something worse.’

This move feels tone-deaf. While Microsoft is focused on increasing Business Central’s customer count, they seem blind to the very real struggles that businesses are facing in the current economy. Customers who have been loyal for decades are now being scared into believing that they need to spend enormous sums of money—money that many simply don’t have—just to keep their businesses running. Instead of providing continuity and reassurance, Microsoft is introducing uncertainty and chaos at the worst possible time.

Our customers don’t need more fear, instability, and stress. What they need is steadfastness. They need someone they can count on to be their shelter in this storm of economic adversity. But instead of being that anchor, Microsoft is abandoning them. The message is clear: Microsoft’s ambitions for Business Central take precedence over the needs of the very customers who helped build its success.

We understand the pressure our customers are under, and we will continue to support Dynamics GP long after Microsoft steps away.

We at Njevity refuse to follow this path. We understand the pressure our customers are under, and we will continue to support Dynamics GP long after Microsoft steps away. While Microsoft might be focused on getting Business Central customer numbers up no matter the cost, we are focused on what really matters—keeping your business running smoothly and providing the stability you need in a time of uncertainty. We are here for you, even when Microsoft is not.
