True Cloud VS Hosted Cloud: And the Third Option that Offers It All

So, you want to go to the cloud with your ERP or accounting system? Great! Here's a quick tip - the first question to ask is: What type of Cloud do you need? When you start searching for cloud solutions, the terminology can get confusing quickly with SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, True Cloud, Fake Cloud, real cloud, hosting, Azure, AWS, and the list goes on... So, let's dig deeper to help with clarity. First, it's important to note that when moving your ERP or Accounting system to the Cloud, it’s best if you can stay on the current system you use. It’s a big lift to move to the Cloud and replace a system you already use unless you are having significant issues getting in your way, because learning an entirely new system and shifting your processes to fit it will be a lengthy and costly project. So, keep that in mind.  To help answer [...]

New Support Process for Exceptional Experiences!

We're excited to announce that our support ticketing system will change as of April 1, 2020! The Vendor and Customer Combiner and Modifier Utilities in GP

The Vendor Combiner/Modifier and Customer Combiner/Modifier officially became an option in the Sales and Purchasing Utilities menus with the release of GP2015.  Previously, these tools were only available in PSTL.  However, it recently became clear to me that many users are still surprised to find these options.  Whether users have just avoided going into the Utilities menus or their security settings prevented them from seeing this “new” utility, once they discover it, they almost immediately can come up with a list of customers or vendors they have been wanting to fix “forever.”  Do you have more than one Vendor IDs or Customer IDs for the same Vendor or Customer?  Have you had to remember which of the duplicates to use, inactivate one or mark one clearly as Do Not Use?  Now you can use the Combiner utility to merge a source (or the bad) Vendor/Customer into a destination Vendor/Customer (the one you want to keep).  All Work, Open and Historical transactions for the source Vendor/Customer get combined [...]

Removing the Intelligent Cloud from the Dynamics GP Home Page

Last week, I published a blog questioning the value and veracity of Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud Insights feature for Dynamics GP. I made the case that if you run GP, you already have the Intelligent Cloud (even if you are running GP On Prem) and don’t need to pay $20-$70 per user per month to ‘get’ it. But because Microsoft has embedded their Intelligent Cloud Insights sign up page on the Home Page in Dynamics GP, it would be really easy for one of your users to accidentally sign your company up for an annual subscription to another ERP system that you really don’t need. What to do about this? Is there any way to HIDE the Intelligent Cloud Insights tab on the Dynamics GP Home Page? The answer is: Yes! David Musgrave, Microsoft Business Applications MVP, Managing Director of Winthrop Development Consultants and the creator of GP Power Tools has [...]
