ADFS 3.0 Remove expiring Token-Signing and Token-Decrypting Certificates

Thank you to Martin Buist @ http://www.martinbuist.com/windows-server-2012r2/how-to-change-token-cer... Once a year a new token certificate needs to be extended in ADFS. If you have autocertificate enrolment on then this wil happen automaticly. However you need to inform the Relying party trust of the new token certificate if they do not use you adfs xml. Most partys do not use this. How does it work. By default the adfs server creates a new certificate 20 days before the primary token certificate expires. 5 days before expiring date the new certificate will be made primary. In this time frame you need to inform your relying party trust and give them the new ADFS certificate. Lets face it. This is not enough time for most partys in my experience. So we need to extend this. Most of us do not want to do this every year. So let’s make this certificate 10 years. Log [...]

Dynamics CRM 2016 New Features: Navigation

New Navigation MenuWith the new menu features, you can get where you need to go faster, less scrolling and fewer clicks.  Upon clicking on a work area tile (like Sales), you get a list of all the entities/items per section in the work area. Administrators can manage the items under each work area, but you can contact Njevity to help with adding/removing work area tiles, adding/removing sections and sorting each item to a meaningful section.Recently Viewed ItemsWhen you click on the clock icon in the top navigation bar, you get a list of recently viewed entity views and a list of recently viewed records.  Use this recently viewed feature when you need to get back to a records or view you were on recently.   TabsIn CRM 2011, you could click on the left navigation to get to an area in your form.  With the 2013 release, the tab quick navigation went away.  [...]

Increase the Maximum Number of Records Exported from Excel

Microsoft Dynamics CRM by default will allow an export from CRM to Microsoft Excel of up to 10,000 records. If you are trying to export more than 10,000 records, CRM will allow the export, however there is no warning that only 10,000 of your 10,000+ records just exported. The solution for this is to increase the size of your export by changing a database value. To do this, perform the following steps (applies to CRM 4.0, 2011, 2013, 2015): 1. Open SQL Management Studio 2. Use the _MSCRM database 3. Open the OrganizationBase table 4. Locate the column - MaxRecordsForExportToExcel 5. Change the value to the new value For a link to Microsoft's KB Article supporting this, please visit http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/911395

Users cannot see renamed form navigation pane group headings

If you have customized the Group Names (i.e. 'Common', 'Sales', 'Service', 'Marketing', 'processes') located in the form navigation pane of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you need to assign the appropriate permissions to users so they can actually see these changes. The privilege inside of the security role that needs to be turned on is called 'ISV Extensions' on the Customization tab. This privilege is already given by default to management roles. If a user does not have this privilege they will not be able to see any changes to the headers-- rather it will look like no change has been made at all.

Watermark SSRS Report – How To

Recently when I was creating an SSRS report and was having a difficult time inserting a watermark. Unlike Microsoft Word, there is no button called "watermark" where one can be easily inserted. I could also not find a way to have a text box with an adjusted transparency. Instead I came upon a very helpful blog that describes how to add a watermark into your report using a custom image. It's as easy as opening Microsoft Word and either creating your own text or using the Watermark button, saving as a .png file, then adding the image into your report. Please refer to the following link for the article. http://www.heysup.net/ssrs-tutorials/ssrs-how-to-watermark-your-report-w...

Personalize your CRM ADFS Sign-in page

Njevity and our partners wanted to brand the sign in page for our Microsoft CRM ADFS logon page. To do this we had to add a logo file and edit a couple of code and configuration files. On our ADFS servers we did the following: 1. Copied a our logo graphic file to c:inetpubadfsls (the root directory of the ADFS web page) 2. Made a backup copy of the web.config file in the same directory 3. Opened web.config with notepad 4. Found and un-commented the <add key="logo" value="logo.png" /> key 5. Edited the key to point to our logo file. 6. Saved and closed the web.config file. 7. Made a backup copy of c:inetpubadfslsMasterPagesMasterPage.master.cs 8. Edited MasterPage.master.cs 9. Change the line Page.TitleLabel.Test = PageTitle ; to Page.TitleLabel.Test = "Sign In to:"; 10 Change the line (so the logon page does not display the server name) STSLabel.Text = FriendlyName; to STSLabel.Text [...]

Disabling Auto-Save does not disable Auto-Save – Dynamics CRM 2013

If you are familiar with Dynamics CRM 2013, than you are aware of the great new auto-save feature that was introduced with this release. By default, Dynamics CRM 2013 will auto-save the form you are working on every 30 seconds unless you increase the time-lapse period or disable the feature. If you disable the auto-save feature while on Update Rollup 1, you may have noticed that the form still saves anyway. This is a bug that is corrected with the release of Update Rollup 2. Copy and paste the following URL into your browser to view Microsoft's Knowledge Base article for UR2. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919956

Unable to Save View Filters in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

We found an issue in Microsoft Dynamics CRM update rollups 15 and 16 when trying to apply filters to views. When adding any filters for "Related" records to a view and then saving the view and closing, the filter will not save. If you re-open the view to check for the filter you just added it will not even be there as if you never added in the first place. It has been confirmed with Microsoft that this is a known issue. We are currently looking for a workaround for this.

Cannot log in under different user account

If you are struggling to sign into Microsoft Dynamics CRM as a different user because you automatically keep logging in as the same user, it is probably because your company has implemented Single Sign-On functionality. Single Sign-On is when your computer's credentials are automatically passed along to the site, rather than making you manually enter your credentials to log in. To get around this try using InPrivate Browsing mode in Internet Explorer to log in as a different user. (Under Tools in the IE Menu toolbar)
